Baldo Tessile Co. Hosts UP ISSI’s Integrated Organizational Survey and Assessment

Baldo Tessile Co. (BTC), the maker of JC Bags and Prints, proudly hosted the Integrated Organizational Survey and Assessment (IOSA) conducted by the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) as part of the 117th Managers Course. The IOSA was conducted from August 18 to October 27, 2018, providing a comprehensive review of BTC’s core business functions—Marketing, Operations, Human Resources, and Finance—offering valuable insights into operational efficiency and strategic growth.

As a well-known totebag maker and provider of customized corporate giveaways, BTC continues to strengthen its presence in the industry by offering promotional giveaways and personalized gift ideas that cater to businesses looking for high-quality corporate giveaways.

What is IOSA?

IOSA is a structured business evaluation process designed to assess and improve organizational functions. The assessment includes key activities such as:
  • Interviewing company personnel to gather critical business insights.
  • Observing operations to evaluate efficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Analyzing data to identify trends and business performance.
  • Formulating recommendations to enhance business strategies.
  • Report Writing to document findings and suggested action plans.

Why BTC?

BTC was chosen as the IOSA site due to its well-established business operations, making it an ideal case study for the Managers Course participants. The assessment provided BTC with actionable recommendations and insights to enhance its business functions while allowing the participating managers to:
  • Apply their theoretical knowledge of management principles.
  • Understand the practical applications and limitations of business strategies.
  • Gain hands-on industry experience in organizational analysis.

The IOSA Team at BTC

The IOSA study was conducted by managers and supervisors from various industries, all of whom were participants of the 117th Managers Course. The team, known as “Team BTC”, included professionals from:
  • Atlas Nutrition
  • Leslie Food Corporation
  • Manila Water
  • Tsukiden Electronics Philippines
  • The Racform Builder’s

Their diverse expertise allowed for a thorough and well-rounded assessment of BTC’s operations.

BTC Team's Seminar and Team Building Activity

As part of their engagement, Team BTC conducted a seminar on 5S and operations management tools, aimed at enhancing workplace organization and efficiency. This seminar provided BTC employees with valuable insights into streamlining operations and improving productivity.
Following the seminar, Team BTC also organized a team-building activity at Tony’s Bar and Grill, bringing together all BTC employees. This event strengthened teamwork, communication, and collaboration within the company, fostering a more cohesive work environment.

IOSA Final Report Evaluation

The IOSA Final Report was evaluated by no less than Mr. Henry O. Palaca, PIE, MTM, the President of Quality Plus Management Consulting Co., and Prof. Virginia C. Yap, University of the Philippines Diliman’s Vice Chancellor for Administration. Both esteemed evaluators provided valuable insights to the IOSA participants, enhancing their understanding and application of organizational assessment techniques.

BTC’s Role and Recognition

The success of the IOSA at BTC was made possible through the support and leadership of Ms. Pam Baldovino and Ms. Krystle Buensalida. Their openness in sharing company information and engaging with the assessment team greatly contributed to the study’s effectiveness.
